Family in Crisis…
Due to give birth we found her sleeping on the cold hard ground with her children. They had not eaten for two days.
A Lifeline in Mathare: Turning Trauma into Hope
In the heart of the Mathare slums in Kenya, Wanted Alive serves as a vital resource for women and children in their darkest hours. Local officials have turn to us when they encounter cases of extreme crisis—families who have run out of options and have nowhere else to go.
A Family in Crisis
This March, we were alerted to a devastating situation involving a 15-year-old girl. Driven by a desperate need to support her sick, pregnant mother and her two siblings—one of whom suffers from epilepsy—she traveled to the city in search of work.
Tragically, in these environments, vulnerable young girls are often targeted by predators. This innocent girl was overpowered and traumatized, she is now pregnant against her will.
When we found them, the family was living in a temporary shelter provided by Good Samaritans, where they were forced to sleep on a cold, hard floor. With the mother due to give birth any day, the situation was critical.
Choosing Compassion Over Constraints
At Wanted Alive, our hearts break for these women. Although our resources are stretched thin, we could not turn this family away. Thanks to the immediate generosity of our community, we were able to:
Secure a safe rental home near our local volunteers.
Provide beds and bedding so they no longer sleep on the floor.
Supply food and essential household items.
How You Can Help
The family is overwhelmed with gratitude, but their journey toward healing and self-sufficiency is just beginning. We need your help to provide ongoing support for food, baby supplies, and the emotional care required to help them reclaim their joy.
Your impact is immediate:
$25 – $50 typically covers a full month of rent for a family in crisis.
Additional gifts provide life-saving nutrition and medical support.
Please consider joining us. Your donation isn't just a gift; it is the foundation of a new life for a mother and her children.
With Donor help we were able to quickly move them to an apartment and provide them a bunk bed, bedding, and food.
